Hogwarts Legacy Magical Beast Locations & How To Catch

Hogwarts has an abundance of Magical Beasts, but catching them requires completing specific missions and a Nab Sack in Hogwarts Legacy.

The wonderful world of Hogwarts belongs to a diverse range of unique fauna and flora, as well as Magical Beasts that find this world their home. These beasts can be encountered by completing main and side quests along your journey to becoming a witch or wizard.

These beasts can be found through exploration and added to a Vivarium located at The Room of Requirement. We’ve detailed how you can find and catch all the Magical Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy.

REMINDER - Hogwarts Legacy was due to launch on PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, but now won't release until 5 May 2023.

How To Find Magical Beasts In Hogwarts Legacy?

Players who want to start locating, catching, and taming magical beasts must first progress with the main story questline and have unlocked The Room of Requirement through its quest. Don’t begin The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom quest just yet; instead, continue with the main quests until the Beasts Class quest becomes available, which you must complete.

This quest introduces the Magical Beasts of Hogwarts, including how to care for, feed, harvest materials, and tame. After completing this quest, navigate to your Quests tab and start the aforementioned The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom quest with Deek and head back to the Room of Requirement to begin the quest.

Deek will introduce you to the Nab Sack mechanic, which fans of the Fantastic Beasts film series will recognize is similar to what famed Magizoologist Newt Scamander uses to catch Magical Beasts. The quest sees you assisting Deek in the wild as you find and rescue various beasts from poachers and, once completed, return to the Room of Requirement, for which you can unlock a Vivarium.

A Vivarium is an enclosure where you place the beasts in an environment to raise and tame them, as Deek will demonstrate how to do so. Once this is completed, you can use the Nab-Sack and locate all 13 Magical Beasts in and around Hogwarts and bring them to a Vivarium.

How To Catch Magical Beasts In Hogwarts Legacy?

Once The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom quest has been completed, and you’ve equipped the Nab-Sack to the Spell Wheel, you can start locating the magical creatures throughout the world. Using the list of known locations to find all the beasts, except for the Phoenix, you head to the location and use the Nab-Sack to catch them.

Once you’ve spotted a creature, follow the on-screen prompts and follow them until they’ve been caught. Should they run away, you can use the Accio and Levioso spells and then the Nab-Sack to catch them all, Pokémon style.
