Debbie was born on April 29, 1974, and is a native of Utah.
She is married to Brandon Gilbert and they have two daughters together. Their names are Liv (born in 2003) and Ana (born in 2005). The couple celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary in 2018.
The family is currently based in Riverton, Utah.
Worthen had difficulty conceiving after delivering her two daughters. After six years of trying for a child, they were finally successful. Unfortunately, 10 weeks into the pregnancy, there was no heartbeat in the womb.
Debbie then explored the option for foster care, and subsequently adopted a son through Utah Foster Care. She shared the detailed experience on KUTV. Now an advocate for at-risk children, she regularly supports foster care.
Education : Worthen graduated from the University of Utah in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies.
She then obtained a Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from the Mississippi State University.

In her senior year of college, Worthen began working as a radio traffic reporter. She soon got promoted to become a traffic reporter and field producer on News 2 This Morning.
Upon graduation, Debbie moved to Las Vegas to work at KVBC-TV News 3 Sunbelt station as a morning and noon reporter. There she made the decision to pursue weather broadcasting & proceeded to further studies at the Mississippi State University.
After that, she made a move to Pocatello, Idaho, as a weekday night anchor.
Her next job took her to Reno, where she anchored the 10 pm news for KRNV’s News 4. Aside from this, Debbie also anchored the weekend’s 5 pm and 11 pm news.
It was there she met her husband, who was News 4 Chief Photographer at the time.
By 2002, Debbie moved back to the station where she began at News 2 as a meteorologist, reporter, and news anchor.
She also hosts the Fresh Living program, which is a lifestyle/entertainment feature-segment of the TV station. It began in 2010.
In early 2017, Worthen announced that she would be leaving the station after 15 years of service there. Chase Thomason replaced her in the weather segment.
Her reputation as a reporter is highly admired – she was recognized as one of the best reporters by the Utah Broadcasters Association.
Currently, she serves as the Vice President of Marketing & Public Relations for Onset Financial, an equipment leasing and financing company.
